Presidential "Golden" Dollars

cameron12xcameron12x Posts: 1,384 ✭✭✭
A friend says that he has some albums, display cases, and uncirculated rolls of these.

I have to admit, I don't collect novelty coins, or modern commemoratives. Are these minted at the US Mint? Are they legal tender?

Or are they made by a reputable 3rd party (not legal tender) or by some fly-by-night organization?

I've not seen them yet. What are they worth, if anything? Thanks!

The main one ones are US Legal Tender circulating coins made by the US Mint. You can find some in change if you look hard enough.

I fail to understand how ANY coin collector would NOT be aware of the Presidential Dollars over the past 5 years. They've been in National Publications including newspapers and general interest magazines and have garnered National Attention. They've had television commercials produced for the US Mint. They are included in literally every mailing from the US Mint. They've been all over national numismatic publications not to mention having the various varieties beat to death in internat coin forums.

Heck, even Investment Companies have been pushing them (Jefferson Missing Edge Lettering coins) via cold calls.

    Where have you been?

These circulate regularly ... in the candy machine at work, every time you get change for a five-dollar bill. Other than that, haven't seen any.
Let's try not to get upset.

    As in............totally asleep?

I don;t know, it just seems a little.......weird. Maybe my perception is tainted but wouldn't this be that same as a coin collector asking if they still made Kennedy Half Dollars?

I tried it and the Danbury Mint came up first. The US mint was second.

You realize that the first few results that come up with peach colored background are ads, right?

Actually, no. That peach color is so faint, I never noticed it before. But I can see it now.

I can't take this thread seriously.

"uncirculated rolls" from a "Fly-by-night organization?" Gimme a break.

I have a very strong aversion to just about anything minted after 1964. image

Coins of "today" really mean nothing to me.
