Tips on buying autographed football - ebay?

hey all, looking to purchase a pretty high end signed football of a deceased HOF'er. Even if someone has a PSA authenticity letter, how do i KNOW (even if the picture looks right), that is the football i'm getting? couldn't a forger, if really good, have signed balls that look like the pic?

Used to buying PSA graded cards where you know what is inside is what was authenticated, any tips for a newbie autograph buyer?

    Well looking for a Walter Payton football. So trying to figure out where I can get a reasonable priced "authentic" one

    Not sure if I have seen Envoy post much lately,but he would be the first person
    I would ask about anything Payton related.
