5 oz. Ellis Island MS-69 DMPL FS

This coin has the highest mintage of the 2017 issues. Why aren't more MS-69 DMPL FS specimens available, and at a lower price? Are there some FS Monster boxes being held back?

There are 233 in FS with normal label PCGS. Are you targeting special labels that have lower pops that for some reason cost a lot more? Plenty of good examples out there of the coin itself at reasonable prices.

I was simply trying to acquire FS unless they are unreasonably-priced - in that case a 69 DMPL is fine. My concern is that someone is sitting on some FS-eligible monster boxes that will drop the price like a rock whenever they are submitted en masse.

That is still quite possible and is especially true with all moderns. My experience with these is get them early and already graded from major suppliers if you want FS.

    JM,

In my opinion you need to be careful of the pops reported by PCGS. They seem to have some glitches and even when I ask about them I get no response other than that is what they think is right.

Look at the 2017 Frederick Douglas 5-ounce coin which our hosts say they graded 22 MS70DM's!!!!!!!! Highly unlikely unless they kept them for themselves?

I have, along with about 16 others in the registry, a complete set of these ATB's in MS69DM mostly FS and NO ONE has a 70DM circulated example published in the registry. NOT ONE ATB 5-ounce coin has been sold in MS70DM according to the databases of all auction companies that I can see. Where are these 22 coins???
