Looking for a new "Marketplace"

I do roughly $100k/yr in sales on ebay, and that's it. Just ebay. For about 15 years now. I've always figured that's where the most eyeballs are so it makes sense. But............ even with a store subscription we're talking 6.15%, plus paypal's 2.9% in fees. It ruins plenty of buying opportunities for me. Like bullion for example.. it's impossible to buy it locally and just break even on ebay.

So... what are my other options? Amazon? Facebook? Craigslist?

The multitude of small "coinauctions.com" type places that do have lower fees, but only a tiny fraction of buyers.. ?

Forums like this? again, a small audience.

I guess what I'm curious about is...... how can I move stuff online and net 95-100%?

Interesting site, I like everything about it except how you need to mail your stuff to them and then they sell it. Doesn't taste right to me.

I tried the Facebook marketplace but don't like to meet up with strangers and find it to be unreliable because you can not restrict the insane offers. Times are rough right now as this is the slow time of year. Do you ship international or just US? Being that you do 100K a year that is a lot to me as an individual so you probable know more then most.

    Best place to buy !

I am a member on another site where I've been witness to thousands in a variety of metals traded per transaction all the time. There is even a "bullion" section. Not sure if you've looked at Realcent.Org, but I use it for smaller purchases.

Sorry, no better place than Ebay.

Higher fees 'yes', but still the best option around.

Online - nothing beats the Bay.

I would suggest setting up at shows. Your paying like a flat $250 fee that’s it u just need volume / GM cover that.

Setting up at shows incurs a big overhead, in time and money. One thing I have done successfully in the past is to walk my inventory around at larger shows. The only caveats here are that you have to be buying the right stuff at the right price. I agree t5hat bullion can be a tough proposition on ebay. I would think that even the biggest guys are working on pennies on the dollar.

You're looking at the wrong end of the market. The main rule for profitability is "Buy LOW Sell HIGH and keep your cost below the difference, That equates to profit. If you are selling into a market that has price consciousness and the retail is pretty flat or fixed , you have to concentrate on getting a better price or moving in higher volumes . Not being a smartaleck just saying. Where and how can you position yourself so that your purchase price for bullion is low enough for you to sell into a flat market and still maintain a good degree of profitability. Many dealers today have the same problem. The days of customers coming into their shops and dropping rolls of coins has almost gone by the wayside as are the days of the Pawn shops. If you're sitting online and media shopping for product, There is a lot of competition and the prices a fairly fixed. People go to coin shows to buy and SELL. When I set a table up, 90% of my signs & advertising is about Buying not selling. I'm there to establish a presence as a serious buyer. Selling is not the problem. Today we are faced with a very well informed public that like us are looking for the " Great Deal." If you can't beat your competitor at his sell price Beat him at his buying Price. I wonder if I posted on this B.S.T board that I had CASH and I was buying silver rounds at $16.50 an OZ how many responses would I get ?

Stay away from amazon for sure. Beside a higher fee, customer is always right. Tracking is useless without signature. 90 days A-Z filing on top of switcheroo. It is not the place for collectible and used items. My raw estimate is around 20% fraud in which you would also have to calculate into your cost.

Lastly, just one single customer will be able to ruining your business if you don't have enough volume since there is no black list . I had a customer who purchased and returned different suits I sold 6 times after he altered and worn them for 30 days each.
