Anyone know what the 'AL' on the label means ? Hoping that it does not designate 'Actual Loser' or 'Arse Lube'. Either of which would predict disturbing rip results.

The authenticator's initials maybe?
The AL stands for Already Looted.

assembled from loose packs?
buying O-Pee-Chee (OPC) baseball
The handwriting is from someone other than BBCE. The older labels sometimes did not have the reference "wax box" "cello box" etc. on the bottom line. It could be anyone's guess what the initials stand for.
All joking aside, sorry to hear that. Is that something you can call the seller on?

Sorry I meant the writing "AL" was not from BBCE. The "1985 Topps" was written by an employee of BBCE in my opinion.

Wraps look tight. Hold them up to the light and look at the back of the pack at an angle. Roller marks should line up across both flaps.
Get the grill ready!
Probably will need to remove the pool cover too. I can see a few of these going for a nice dip.
This is exactly what someone pulling a joke would say, right? I'll be waiting for the bottom front left pack to be a baseball cello.
The seller probably had no idea if the box was already authenticated.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
What are the RCs to look for in the 85T set?
Have no idea.
I like the black borders and some of those look pretty nice.

This is a black mark/X out box. It could have simply been returned to Topps that way years ago, marked as a return, put back in a case, sealed by Topps. Years later BBCE opens the sealed case, wraps all boxes without checking each one because the case was sealed, it stays like that until you open it. Maybe that is how it happened.
Let's get a minty Mosi Tatupu rookie up in this piece!
Arthur
I would hope BBCE still inspects individual boxes regardless of how the case was sealed.
Thanx Brian
I love your recent box breaks. Not sure what your plans are for the cards, but I need a minty raw set for my football run. Please let me know.
I think Mosi Tatupu's rookie is 1984 Topps. One of my alma mater's most famous alums, next to some guy named Barry.

And after you are done trying to get arsenal a set, I have a wantlist to complete my sets, pretty please. And hopefully you didn't flush those 1984 Donruss. They are on my list as well.

Thank you.
Thank you. Message sent.
Thanks for scanning all the cards. It's fun to see all the cards of a set I know virtually nothing about from the 80's. Good luck with your submissions and thanks again for sharing your rip.
