Wilson Franks Slaughter eBay auction ending tonight

Spotted this auction where a PSA 7 seems to be going for a lower than usual price so far (<250), then noticed that it’s the same cert number that went for $1020 at HA a couple weeks ago. I’m sure some late bids will come in to bump the price up a bunch, but I’m interested to see if it reaches $1020 or higher to make some money for the seller... Seems like a risky proposition to me.

Looks like a run on Wilson Franks :) - there’s a Groth that is in the same boat (HA a couple weeks ago, Probstein ending tonight, same cert). I love this set mainly due to the scarcity, but I haven’t thrown my hat in the ring on either of these... yet.

Looks to be a gamble between the generally deeper pockets at HA and the increased visibility of eBay/Probstein. I have a feeling this will not end well for the flipper. Would be fun to see it flipped again in the next eBay/PWCC auction for comparison.

If it went for $1,020 it will need to go higher than that to win. HA shipping. Probstein and EBAY fees.

Maybe the buyer got it in hand and didn't like it.

That card is not bumping so I will take the under on eBay. Just a blind guess.

They’re both starting to creep up. I threw a bid at the Groth hoping for a cheap acquisition but it didn’t last too long. Interesting study here - figure they’d have to go 10-15% or more above HA to cover costs? Never consigned with either so that's just a guess based on 7-10% consignment, shipping, insurance, etc...

EDIT - an Erskine PSA 6 went through a similar process recently... sold in April at Love of the Game for $431 then at EBay a couple weeks later through Probstein for $360. A different Erskine 6 is following the same HA/eBay pattern as the 2 noted previously. Hopefully these guys just didn’t like them and offloaded vs. trying to turn a profit (though the results aren’t in yet on the final 3)...

Results - Erskine sold for +10 (418 eBay vs 408 HA), Groth -7 (521 vs 528) and -121 on Slaughter (899 vs 1020). The Slaughter price looks like a bit of a steal - a 7 went for $944 in Jan 2016, so $899 seems like a pretty good price for the buyer.
