Maybe they forgot to put the negative sign before the number. -6.5 !!

It would have been a 7 easy , but that corner wear was a bit too much. Slight tire staining on the front also held it back. or this could have easily been an 8. Wonder if that was a 4SC submission :)

Yikes. This has to be a mechanical error of some kind.

Does this even grade a 1.5?

PSA should reach out to Probstein and kill this auction and take this card out of circulation.

Dpeck is right. Mechanical errors happen on the grade portion of the label very frequently. Most definitely, the correct grade was assigned by the grader but then someone further down the line screwed up on the label process. Customers don't always catch these errors after receiving their cards, especially if there is not as much disparity between the assigned grade and the labeled grade as we see here, and too many people just assume the grade on the holder is the grade the card received, which is not always the case.

Apparently the auction has now been cancelled by the seller. Bummer.

It may be a mech error but looking up the cert number it comes back 6.5. Does anyone have any idea of the exact process used? I'd be curious to hear it.

You (or I at least) would think that the grader making the data entry for the grade would prevent such issues. It makes little sense to have them write it down only to have a second person enter the info. Adds another layer of complication and possible error that doesn't need to be there. I mean asign a bar code to each item upon receipt. Grader scans item, determines grade, enters the grade, scans next item and repeat.

I believe a lot of the entering of info is done using drop down menus, so errors can occur when the wrong entry is selected. Same reason errors occur in card descriptions.

One of our members here, Mike (Stone), mentioned on another forum that the very next certification number is the same card in a PSA 1. It is very possible that the labels accidentally got switched.

    Hiya James

Not the same card but the next cert # is a 1. So, it's possible that someone will get their card back, see a PSA 1 and go nuts?
I.e., theirs was supposed to be the 6.5?

Before anyone goes too bananas on the vendor? Who knows how many items they put up each day? I doubt they're even looking at the card as such?

Wasn't there somebody on here not too long ago that had a 60's Mays grade a PSA 10, but it should have been much lower?

The errors on the mech error labels are always entered into the cert data on the website. This goes for mech errors on the grade and non-grade portion of the flip alike. They are only corrected in the database and population report after you send them back in to PSA for free correction.
