2018 Bowman Jumbo group case break/hits thread

maddux69maddux69 Posts: 2,150 ✭✭✭✭✭

I was able to locate a case of 2018 Bowman Jumbo and seeing if any board members would like to participate in a break. It is currently on hold and I need to let them know tomorrow if I will be purchasing. This is an 8 box case which I have been quoted $2800 or $350 a box. For those interested I will ship them exact postage, one should fit in a Priority Mail Regional Rate Box A with insurance optional. Let me know below if you would like to participate.

1-2 boxes here please if you need help. Will you take a 3rd party out of state temporary check as payment?

    ;)

If I did baseball still I would be in. Seems like we have lost so many board members this past year to the ban hammer that filling group breaks is gonna be hard as hell. Fantasy Football will be interesting come August to say the least.

We should have enough now. I have them holding it and will go by tomorrow to secure it. I will PM when in hand to get all the information.

I was just about to edit mine. I have a line on 2 boxes local at $325 each so I'm going to have to bail on my one.

That's easy Gus. Would take it down to 40 bucks actually :) Think about it. How many boxes were made here. I don't know.

These are standard yearly Bowman Jumbo boxes right ? The Brilliance of the folks that offered 60K for a single card out of the whole entire batch, well. was just simply brilliance. A normal 75 dollar box suddenly jumps up to 350 bucks. That's over 300 bucks a box above standard yearly price right ? The folks with that offer have probably sold 20k boxes. 20k x 300+ bucks profit per box equals.. what ?

So, to point you in the direction of a $75 2018 Bowman Baseball Jumbo Box, wait no.. $40 box, you just need to find someone who bought one and ask to look at it. :)

    Denise, make sense ?

You have trouble with names, too? Hey! As long as it makes sense to you, chief it's all good.

Bowman boxes each year for hobby typically run in the $130-160 range for regular and $245-300 for jumbos. Have bought them going back to 2011 or so, and with more parallels and autos plus strong prospects (McKay, Greene, Luis Robert...) it will do well as usual. Add in a pitcher/hitting prospect like Otani who also commands the Asian market and the law of supply and demand makes prices go up.

Bowman hobby with chrome inserts is one of the few new items I will buy for fun to crack open with the family each year, and whether it is $245 or $340 a box how do you put a price on fun!

I went the cheaper route of retail 2018 bowman for my lottery tix. Struck out, missing anything very worthwhile in those packs, which I guess means there are more hits left out there for the rest of you! Good luck on the rips!

  • maddux69maddux69 Posts: 2,150 ✭✭✭✭✭

Night rip before heading out for drinks. Still have my box from the case break and hoping lightning strikes twice!

I didn't want to invest in the hobby due to price this year.

When they went live on Target, I picked up 15 blasters with a 5% discount for using their card. So, with free shipping it came to about 305 bucks with tax. As I said before, I think they sold out in an hour or so?

    edit:

So far, with 14 boxes opened, I've got 4 complete base sets and the BP 1-150 is complete along with the BPC (chrome) 1-150. I've got 4 auto cards - no one to write home about - 1 is 8/99 Romero who hasn't won a game in AA this season. So, I'm sure I can trade my autos for coffee at Starbucks.

Insert sets - to some degree are too large IMO - like the "Top 100 Bowman Scouts" since odd are 1/4 packs.

This is just about on par with how it was last year where I did the same thing - retail blasters.

Was hoping I might get a parallel Ohtani but no such luck - in fact I think I've only gotten a few parallels period.

I have yet to crack my boxes - think I have 6 jumbos and 1 regular hobby box plus extra loose packs of each. I always buy a few extras so I can think I have a chance at an auto post 3 auto pulls per jumbo. I also have picked up some retail from WalMart, and usually I hit It after the gym around lunch. Friday they had 8 boxes plus hangers and packs. I grabbed 3 boxes and left the rest in case others wanted to grab them later. Hopefully we will have some time away from baseball this week so I can crack some open.

One thing I do need to do is list my 2017 and 2018 Heritage cards for sale. I have about 75-80 purple chrome refractors from 2017 plus a ton of Judge graded and raw. Need to make room!

    Need to make room!

    That's a major problem Keith.

Altho I enjoy buying new products, I wind up with a ton of commons which take up a lot of real estate.

When I get time, I'll give you a list of SPs I need of the 2017 Heritage set.

Just let me know. What are SP’s and purple chromes going for these days? Trying to find them a good home, and I cracked 7-8 boxes so I have tons of 2017 Heritage I can sell for a decent price to anyone that wants them.

    Have no idea.

I've only bought blasters, traded and gifted cards in the past.

I had a nice hit in a case break: Kris Bryant Bowman Sterling Red Refractor 5/5! Beautiful card in hand, please excuse the dust on the scanner.

Still have not opened the jumbos yet but did crack a few retail boxes and a couple of hanger packs. Not too bad on the pulls considering the boxes were only $20.

Update from a break of one hobby box (regular) , a couple of retail mini boxes from Wal Mart and a handful of random packs.
