It is no longer grey, so the Greysheet nickname will fade.

Since it was called "The CDN Weekly Greysheet" and "The CDN Greysheet Supplement" by its publisher I don't really think it's a nickname. Further, the new format calls it "The CDN Monthly Greysheet" right now, so that must be its actual name, but that isn't the importance of the name to me. The important part is "Weekly" vs. "Monthly" in publication times.

It has taken some time to get this price guide straightened out, primarily a bigger print format which is nice and everyone seems happy. I wonder how happy we will all be when the next month's issue arrive and we have been burned a bit on some prices, either as a seller or a buyer?? I share this story:

A few years ago a customer came in an offered a BTW graded MS67 in a PCGS holder. It was a nice coin, relatively well struck, mark free and had pleasant tone at the rims. I checked the price in the Greysheet and bought it at 20% back of bid which is where we work from. About a week or two later my boss called me into the office and asked why I had paid so much and I explained what I did. He pulled out the sheet and referenced the price listed which was way lower than what I had seen.

I sucked it up and figured I had looked at the wrong date. Then I got curious and pulled out some back issues. The price I had used was the same for as far back as we had sheets, maybe six months. Then it changed to the lower price on the first sheet after I purchased the coin!!! I sold it later that year to a specialty collector at a show, we made money but far less than we should have based on the higher price.

--- My point should be clear: What will happen when the new Greysheet shows up in 3-4 weeks and there have been price drops on items that are still in stock and can't be sold at a profit?? Will everyone cheerfully accept the loss and still be happy with the Monthly format.??

Been my experience that coin prices typically move at a snails pace. I have greysheets from a year ago that basically look the same as ones today. Obviously I am jut a collector / small time flipper and not a high volume dealer so I would rarely notice such changes anyway. Personally I was always surprised it was a weekly publication. Monthly should be more than sufficient.

My favorite part about the greysheet is pulling it out at a show before making an offer for purchase and watching all the dealers getting bent out of shape. lol

If your point is that you need pricing more frequently than once a month, the CDN video on their website specifically address that question and says that the website and app is continuously updated for subscribers.
