Some very good deals to be bought, barely half of estimated in some cases - Are $5 SCs so narrow of a niche?
Wow

It was on my hit list, but after looking at it, I passed.

I was able to nail down this one Thursday night and I was pleased with the result as I was the underbidder on it in the 2013 Long Beach auction. Still wasn't cheap but it was a bit less than I bid four and-a-half years ago.

Sweet !!!
Did you take the Gem Mule? $600 under Estimates - yowza!

I nabbed that one! Really thought the Mule would go for closer to $1,900 minimum.
I landed that one even though I already had one. Thought I'd get outbid but got stuck with it. Oh well it happens.
I also won the $5 1928E LT star in PCGS 65PPQ. But unfortunately for my max bid. Was hoping for a little less.
Looking at lots I was following, it seemed like prices were soft, with many selling for the opening bid or thereabouts. In most cases, these prices were significantly less than what comparable (or even exact same) notes realized previously. Are these the true bargains they seem, a further downward adjustment in prices, or were underbidders siting out this auction?
On the $5 small size LT's there were a number of lots that had previously gone for auction but didn't sell. This time the reserves we're much lower and they all sold although prices were softer than I expected. I wasn't motivated to bid on most of them even though there were a few I needed. When they're in the wrong holder for your registry sets it's always a bit risky too.
That is one-and I do mean - 1 - amazing and original note! I think it could make me change my name to "1st charter," it is so lovely! Do you know who saved that delectable piece of currency?
