I Too have a Submission Question

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,178 ✭✭✭✭✭

Ok, so here's the deal. I again signed up for Platinum teir service with PCGS back in 2016. I was sent my ten vouchers and subsequently lost them (actually tossed them out accidently with other paperwork). I did submit coins in 2016 yet didn't attempt to use these vouchers. Now, fast forward to 2017 where I was automatically charged for the same Platinum service and ten new vouchers were sent. I do plan on submitting twenty coins or so in the next week and wonder how I can do so using the twenty vouchers (total) I've purchased in the last two years (with ten missing).

Will PCGS have a record of these unused vouchers? Will a simple note suffice within the submission? I'd hate to think these vouchers somehow expire or if the actual paper vouchers are lost I have also lost my ability to claim them. Any help in pointing me in the right direction, you would have the gratitude of a board member.

Usually expire in a year (mine always had an expiration date on them).
You would need to contact customer service, but if it is that long ago (a year), they may not be able to use them for you and only be able to use the current ones.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Thanks! Will look into that further.

Allways thought vouchers expired with the membership they were tied to.

    Pat,

    I didn't answer your 2nd question.
You asked if the paper voucher is lost, if the chance to submit on that would be lost as well?

In a past experience, I had lost mine due to some house stuff. I contacted CS and they had a record of it (each submission voucher has an unique number that PCGS has recorded), so I was still able to submit. CS sent me the number and I put it on the submission.

As an aside, I find the voucher numbers to be completely ridiculous. My last one was something like this:

    100000000000000000000000000000000000004367

FIrst of all, it's 8 vouchers.

-They have been electronic for the last couple of years. Click your account and it will show "unredeemed vouchers".

You can use them for a year from the date on the voucher,,,,,,, sometimes they will extend the date if you ask nicely.

At least they have in the past,,,,, it might have changed.

@braddick I think you will only be able to use the unexpired ones. Its still worth a shot calling them to see if they can give you a grace period.

I don't think I've actually ever written out the voucher #'s on a submission form. I just wrote on the form "APPLY ALL MEMBERSHIP VOUCHERS TO THIS SUBMISSION" and it was taken care of.

Don't forget to make sure you take advantage of the "Quarterly Special" as you have to specifically say you want to use it. Here is the part of the site with the rules and directions https://www.pcgs.com/ccspecial

I just checked and sure enough, I have eight vouchers (and not 16). Thanks for all the info guys. I will definitely get these used in the near future and not let them go to waste.

If you don't use them I can buy them from you for half price if it can be transfered to other person. :D

Just look at the options at the bottom of the post that you want to copy and hit "quote".

That sucks that you can't use those unused vouchers from the previous. There is "NO" reason for this as far as I'm concerned.

  • braddickbraddick Posts: 24,178 ✭✭✭✭✭

I agree. I can understand if someone only had a single year membership but mine rolled over automatically to another year. I can't see the reasoning as to why the certificates need to end/expire.

Their contract specifically says "they expire after your yearly membership expires." And they don't roll over, but of course, you can ask. I have one that went unused from 2022, so I'll be asking them if I can still use it with my 2023 vouchers on a new submission.
