Question about submitting coins to PCGS for grading and true views

Hello!
I've got a few questions about sending coins into PCGS for grading/re-slabbing/cross overs:

Do most people submit coins themselves? Or through a dealer? Is there a benefit to one way or another? I have about a dozen coins that I want to submit for grading and true views. I've never submitted anything to PCGS before, So I wanted to ask for some advice.

The coins are all graded and are currently in older NGC and PCGS holders. The PCGS ones should just be a reholder and a true view, right? One of the PCGS coins has a green CAC sticker, on an older scratched up slab. If I submit it for a re-holder and a true view, will it keep the same # so I can send it back to CAC for a resticker?

5 of the coins are in NGC slabs. I just want to submit these for cross over at the same grade. One is a PF64+ CAC, if it crosses over at the same grade, is it relatively easy to resend it to CAC for a resticker? Is submitting for a cross over relatively straightforward?

thank you all for the advice and help

Join Collectors Club and submit coins yourself. No reason to involve a middleman third party.

NGC coins need to be "crossed". My philosophy is you do better cracking and submitting raw (so PCGS doesn't have to hedge on potential problems hidden by slabs). But I never crack if I feel there's a possibility PCGS may find a problem...colorful toning, old hairlines from cleaning, etc.

PCGS coins can be submitted for True View images via the cheaper "reholder" service or by asking they be "regraded". Yes, they will retain the original cert# so CAC can resticker them. It's best to shoot pix of the current holder with its sticker before submitting to PCGS and later (with the photos), to CAC, to ensure CAC has no doubts.

You must decide on how to handle NGC crosses. Crossing at the same grade is a crap shoot. Again, PCGS is cautious because plastic can hide problems. "DNC" is not uncommon ("did not cross") for a cross-at-grade. I like to "cross at _any grade_" just to get it into PCGS plastic, figuring I can later "regrade" without worry of a bodybag. It costs a little more (double submissions) but the risks are lower and the chances of PCGS plastic are higher.

Yes, the submission process is straightforward. Tedious (read the fine print), but hard to screw up.

Let us know how you did!
    Lance.
