Thought the article was good and neat to see that many high end cards. Also, thought it was interesting that Brent doubled down on the buying group from 2016 saying it was 20 guys doing it when most likely it was some shilling from Texas and Alabama with their auctions alomg with some suspicious looking “sales” of Clemente, Rose, Koufax, and Ryan rookies by smaller AH’s who had the same cards that sold for sales a few months later.
Bottom line is these days nice examples of key cards are getting very strong prices, and we are seeing centered examples of cards in mid grades (PSA 5-7) getting extremely strong prices. Evan's Mantle is possibly the nicest one that will be for sale for the next 10 years, and don’t be surprised if this one does not bring a monster price.
One of the primary reasons cards can have value is cases like this where you can be absolutely loaded and can’t simply go out and buy any card you want.

Nice to see Brady get some exposure. Great guy who has a great attitude about both cards, and people/friends in the hobby.
I’ll echo Keith’s sentiments about the fictional “buying group” cover story that minimized, but did not prevent, uncovering of questionable practices on both sides of some auction transactions and leave it at that.

Mr. Lowell--thank you for the link. I am surprised that the crissir wasn't interviewed.
Good pub for Brent
I love this comment.
Thanks for sharing the article.
When I read that comment about the ranking on the graded set, I for one actually cringed.

Well said Dpeck. If you’re worth a billion, you still can’t go to the store and buy a 1952 Mantle PSA10.

i agree that this market is strong...which of course is good and bad for those of us who still need to add
