Raw card values

I have dealt only in graded cards the last three years and now have an opportunity to purchase a small collection of ungraded (raw) cards. What do most collectors use to determine values of raw cards?

  • Years ago I used Beckett but I see there is a cost for their online price guide.

you could probably use an old one - and use percentages based on condition and/or how much margin you are looking for

Low Grade Poor/Fair/Good 10% or less of book
    VG-VGEX 10-20%
    EX/EXMT 20-40%
    NM 40-50%+
NM-MT MINT Sky is the limit

These are retail prices so if you are trying to make $ on a flip and are buying a large collection you will have to come in way under those estimates factoring fees will cost you 15% thereabouts.

This is a HUGE generalization, look at completed listings on eBay. Watch our for fakes/altered cards. If it's too good to be true....

Make sure you know how to grade a vintage card if you don't you will likely lose, and lose big time

They offer one day subscription to Beckett online for like $2 or $3. I think the monthly one is $10 for one month so if you are looking at doing this flip I'd say it's a small investment to help determine value (if you use Beckett)

  • Thanks for the advice.......much appreciated!

I'd use ebay completed sales to get an idea of real time card values.
