Once UMBC tightens up and the spotlight gets to be too much...Virginia by 5 to 10.

You know when I checked the Wikipedia article to see the updated brackets and saw UMBC won by 20...I thought somebody pulled some sort of edit vandalism gag. This is most definetly NOT how I pictured the first 16 beating a 1 to happen! BTW, before this our local Murray State (who was a one and done this year) was the only 16 seed to take a 1 seed (Michigan State) to OT in 1990. I guess like Rocky in the first movie, Murray State figured they probably couldn't beat Michigan State but hoped to at least "go the distance"? And the previous year, as if Georgetown wasn't embarrassed enough in 1985, came within a last second shot of 16 seed Princeton knocking them out and really make the Hoyas be chokers!! Princeton would have better luck in 1996 though.

And for the record, my bracket is still perfect. :) Well, the only part I care about anyway...and that of course is provided we do indeed do our job Saturday against the Bills (It would've been more fun to get back at Arizona for what they did to us in 1997 though...).

UMBC played a really good game but it helped that Virginia looked slow and lazy.

To me college basketball is the thing that pre-empts the good shows on CBS in March. I can't believe you guys know who any of these bums are or care how it turns out :D .

Now if it was NCAA womens volleyball I'd be all over it. .

Best wishes to the Retrievers to make a run in the tourney. Unfortunately they play KState and Bruce Weber next. Still feel Weber got a bum deal from Illinois.

What is even more interesting is this historic win comes on the 40th anniversary of an unknown school in Southern California that shook the 1978 NCAA Tournament to the core in a memorable string of upsets beating New Mexico followed by USF... Both ranked in the top 10 at the time before loosing a tough game to Arkansas 61-58 in the Western Regional Final. It would be great to see UMBC follow in the footsteps of CSUF and go even further. I suppose CSUF had the benefit that the NCAA tournament was 32 teams back in the day.
