Another way to tell........ Go in a dark room and try to shine a flashlight through it. If no light comes through, then it is real. If light shines through it is fake. You need to set the card directly on the flashlight.
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
@Hobbyvaults if you're looking to buy that MJ i would at least ask the seller for better pics taken outside of the magnetic holder. I would also ask the seller if that fleer rookie is indeed legit why hasn't it already been graded when it looks to be in great condition. Selling it ungraded and leaving thousands of dollars on the table would be a red flag for me.
As stone193 posted above with the pictures, its clearly a card made after 1986 as that pixilation is the tell-tale sign that it is not the original print run. There is debate whether they are copies made by Fleer in the early 1990's, or by some random person who had access to professional printing equipment, but the wrong card stock. But this shows the details of exactly what was identified in the mid 1990's as a "counterfeit". If some company graded that as authentic, then they don't appear to know what they are doing(or are in on it).
I actively collect Kirby Puckett. I have collections of Michael Jordan, Emmitt Smith, Roberto Clemente, Dwight Gooden, Tom Seaver, Errict Rhett and Evan Longoria.

The card is a modern counterfeit. I think you are confusing Fleer with Star Co. The Star reprinting stories are muddled truth. They created some "newly found old stock" sets. This was not reprinting anything that had been made before. I have never heard a tale of Fleer reprinting Jordan rookies in the early 90's.

No, I know all about the Star deal. There is a "theory" out there that once the 1986 Fleer set took off in the early 1990's with the Olympics Dream Team craze, Fleer, who had just sold those packs for pennies a few years earlier(retail was fifty cents, so they got ten cents or so per pack wholesale), ran copies themselves and "sold them into the market".
This is based upon the fact that few people outside the card company or printing company could make those cards back then. This goes for the bulk of the "counterfeits" out there from that time period - likely done by employees of the companies. Sure, there are some "home made" fakes out there that are bad, and some "modern" ones done in the era of modern computer technology. But this "counterfeit" scare happened in the early to mid 1990's, well before 99.999% of people had any plausible way to make a real looking copy.

It was graded,, i have a picture of it. I busted it out and was debating on sending to PSA
Sorry man but the card is a 100% fake. Someone must have had it in a fraudulent case or one of their made at home slab companies. It is a counterfeit card and not real and the back gives it away 100% if the front didn't already due to the black lines being spotted.
Ebay purchase? Try and get a refund or paypal or credit card charge-back I guess is your only hope.

I assumed this was simply a "trial run" once he said it was graded and that he had cracked it out of the case. He knew it was fake and was trying to see how easily people who post here would identify it as such.

Looks almost too nice especially the edges, even though top to bottom is a bit off. Do you have a scan of the back?
If ya have a mag x 5 or 10?
Take a look at the "black" line border around the yellow.
On my screen the line appears to have print dots - it's supposed to be a solid black line as if drawn with a black sharpie.
Also, check the word "Premier" - again if it breaks down into "print dots?" IMO, a fake.
need to see the back, but the front screams reprint
.

Notice how the black line outlining the yellow and the word "Premier" are reduced to photo dots?
IMO, that screams reprint.
Need a pic of the back

I located an 86F card and scanned it - you can see a big difference the black ink "lines."
OP's card:
Gorgeous
Funny
beautiful card, hope its real for you
