Technical Assistance -- Epson V550 Scanner --- Nevermind!!

PROMETHIUS88PROMETHIUS88 Posts: 2,891 ✭✭✭✭✭

So I went to look for a V600 but the only thing I could find here was a V550. From what I've seen the pics look good as well. So got it home, unboxed it, downloaded drivers online and ready to get my scan on. There are no instructions inside the box other than plugging it in. It is powered up and I hit the scan button but nothing happens. I'm horrible with technology anymore after actually being a hardware IT guy 20 years ago, lol. Can anyone offer any suggestions that has this or the V600 as I would assume the setup is basically the same?

Ok, think I'm all good now after a couple of tests. Scanning at 300dpi. Only thing I'm having issues with is the cropping.

Try a few where you don't close the scanner lid (Ideally in a darker room)

Yeah, that didn't help with my regular printer/scanner but I did a couple just now on preview and while this flatbed scanner is 100% better than my old one, the lid up does help a little more. Still have to practice the cropping here but on Ebay I can finalize the cropping if needed

It looks like you have a background or maybe a piece of paper behind your card/slab. If so, it should not be there. Keep the room dark and scan with the lid open, nothing on the card.

My guide shows how to easily crop in Epson Scan.

Yeah, I had the black paper behind it for this one but tried the a preview with it open, just didn't scan. Trying to balance my daughter having some friends over and playing with my new toy. I'm going to have to go back in and re-read the cropping. Thanks so much for all your help!! Tim

you can get rid of the tilt by placing the holder against the edge of the scanner bed or using a magnetic holder to help center it and keep it level. you will never be able to eyeball it straight in the middle of the platen, so always use something to help level it against the edge of the scanner bed.

I just got my first windows 10 computer. When I hooked up my Epson v600, the scanner software now fails to work. the files won't execute. I uninstalled and reinstalled...no change. Any fixes out there?

  • HighGradeLegends, I have to:
right click on the scanner icon
    click "open file location"
then double click on the device (the scanner) to get mine to work.
    hope that helps

Are you turning on the scanner first and letting it cycle in for about 30 seconds or so before you open the software? The blue lights have to stop flashing before you open the software.

    Hopefully it is that easy.
