1924 $20 Saint Double Eagle Double Die Obverse DDO VP-001

    Go on the internet and look up Doubled Die. Many coins (even $20) have apparent doubling that is common. Post a picture of your coin and folks here can help you.

    Only NGC recognizes this double die currently, primarily because it is not included in the current Cherrypicker's Guide, but it will probably make the next edition. It is significant but relatively rare with numbers slowly increasing as more are found... with 318991 slabbed typical 1924's compared against 31 of the DDO type (as of 4/10/1918). MS66 is the top grade found at present.

    There are significant die cracks through "LIBERTY" on most examples that will help you identify the real deal. Here are some photos:
