Royal vs. British

Does anyone know the difference between the British Numismatic Society and Royal Numismatic Society? From info on their websites, they appear to meet at the same place. Which would be better to join?

    Both if you have the money. If not, I'd be more impressed if you were a "Royal." :) The RNS is older. Wonder if the BNS was formed by folks who did not make it into the other. :)
