Anyone use the PayPal debit card?

AzurescensAzurescens Posts: 2,783 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm not a business owner and when out buying supplies yesterday I realized it'd be much easier keeping expense reports if I can use the card.

Has anyone run into issues like payment delays or posting delays, funds available but they're really not?

I'm opening a new checking/savings account anyway but this seems good in a pinch. How quickly after using it are funds removed? Have you had it not work anywhere? It just can't be run as credit is the only stipulation ; do I have this right?

Cheers and thanks,

Az.

Isn't that how "Kryptonite comics" got in trouble? Or was that the paypal loan?

    PayPal Working Capitol.

The debit card lets you use your PayPal balance just like a bank debit card. I would rather get the miles from my Chase Reserve these days.

Spark card you get 2% back, it all depends what your financial patterns are.

I use it all the time. Never had a problem if the funds are there. Its just like any other debit card. They also have a great paypal app for my iPhone or android. You can see your balance, send, receive funds and transfer to your regular bank all from your phone. You can pay 25c to have your funds instantly transferred to your bank account. Since you can transfer funds so fast you really dont need to use the paypal debit card. Works seamlessly.

I've been throwing money into my checking but now I need to start keeping track of business expenses for a 1099 since I plan on making more than enough to get a letter in Jan 2019. If I lose a receipt I don't have to sift through our day to day. Every year since we moved here we've had an "audit-lite" done on our taxes. Long story short a contractor with bad licenses nearly cost me 150k and he made off to the literal middle of nowhere. We moved a few years later and they always give our taxed another once-over and documents etc.

I need to decide on where we are donating. I make a monthly donation to an organization every month through work since they match it and a 3rd party 50% match). I suppose I could make that bigger through work since both incomes are capital gains anyway.

I should've gotten an associates in business and just did this 15 years ago. Especially the amount of metals and coins I had back then. I'd be solid now.

I have used it a few years. It is linked to my bank account so can use it even with no balance in my PAYPAL account. Getting cash out of PAYPAL used to take longer to transfer to bank, but could get 'cash withdrawal' at ATMs that take MasterCard. Also get 1% cashback for debit card usage.

Is this related to ebay? Isn't ebay changing their processor to someone else soon? Does that matter in this case for you?

All I know is I keep getting the card offers from paypal here lately... thanks, not interested...

Insert witicism here. [ xxx ]

    I've used it enough.
The funds appear to come out immediately. You will also have an email "receipt" by the time you get home.
    I like the card.....

Stick with cash when and where you can. Guaranteed you will spend less and save more when you constantly have to count out your purchases.

Plastic is pure evil but I do realize in some instances you are forced to use it. In those cases the PP card would be as good as any.

I'm really liking the email receipt part. Even with OCD, I've misplaced copies of copies for taxes.

1% cash back and ATM with Mastercard, this thing sounds great for me. Ebay notifications in email make for great purchase/sale receipts.

No problems whatsoever using my PayPal debit card. No delays at all with anything.

My limits are $600 withdrawal cash per day and 10k spending per day which I think are the maximum limits.

How much are the fees per transaction? i thought it was around 1.00?

    Always trying to learn more

I've transferred using the 25 cent fee to my bank and my funds were available instantly. It'd be nice to skip the smart phone to card. I was out mailing stuff and hit a metals place I never been to, and didn't expect to find stock that I didn't have immediate funds for.

....or do you mean $1 per every pin entry?

It works anywhere MC is accepted so it can pay gas, right? Do the PINs work at pumps without issue?

I'll have to write off mileage or gas for mushroom season because of all the travel before I can get into habitats.

I have gotten gas, sometimes asks for zip code of billing address. It is like a regular MasterCard, so I have never had fees except ATMS (only time I have used PIN) - PAYPAL dollar and also some ATMs another buck or 2.

The loser still owes me $2,400. Guess I am the loser as well (of money).

No fees for using the card for gas or in a store.

There might be a fee for taking cash from an ATM machine.

Some supermarkets, gas stations, and online payments accept the debit card as a credit card. Then you get 1% back. When using it as a debit card, there is no 1% back.

When using it with the little processor, always press credit first because if that works you get 1% back. If that doesn't work, then just do it again pressing debit, and then you have to use your PIN number.

Mine is 1% unless they changed it to 2% and I didn't notice. Not that much money either way, but hey, who turns down free money? LOL

I've used one for a couple of years. Very easy to use for buying anywhere a debit card is accepted. And when I want cash out of the account I pay $3 per $300 at ATM if I must or I go to Wal-Mart or other store that gives $100-300 cash back on a debit card purchase and split the order up to get however much cash I need.

    The more you VAM..

    Credit card vs Debit card

  • Sonnys88Sonnys88 Posts: 178 ✭✭✭

Have used it for years. Never any issues. Just always use it as “credit”, not “debit”, so you get the 1% cash back and extra security that “credit” transactions offer.

And convenient that you can withdrawal money from an ATM if you need some extra cash from your PayPal account quickly.

All transactions post instantly to your PayPal account.

That and a lot more yeah. Food for chefs, ourselves, locals, spore collecting, etc I've spent nights camped out for just the right mushrooms to grow. The PNW is a very rich fungal ecosystem. May as well eat and make money off it.

And actually if you dig that kind of thing.. I struck gold on oysters last year.. a couple sister species. They were delicious. I regret not taking spores or flesh for genetic testing, and I'm getting better at this, and it's super fun. This year I'll be growing out those tissues from those collections to distribute to other farmers for genetic variation and flavor. There's really only a few top isolates used in canned mushrooms, but others taste and smell and cook different.

One log of mushrooms fed us two winters ago, but hasn't fruited again. I hope it will in October it was gorgeous. One of the few red mushrooms, or mushrooms with white gills, that you can eat (flammulina velutipes).
