Interesting that the Top Pop 1907 at MS68 also has very nice toning.......
I think that I rather like jwitten's coin for $4000 than the top pop for +/- $180,000. He will have to swallow very hard to replace that coin he is willing to sell for $4000. In fact I rather like his better.

Wow, that one is stunning! I went ahead and shipped the coin to coinlieutenant today. If he likes it, he is taking it. I love toned gold, but he has a toned $10 Indian SET he is going for, where my main focus is my toned $2 1/2 set. And no, I did not charge him my ebay asking. I basically am making a finders fee on it, lol. Sorry to any parties I offended by listing it.

Disagree. The only special thing (very hard to replace) about the OP's coin is its color.

But I think finding another coin with a similar look would be a lot harder than finding a generic high grade version of it. I think that's what he is trying to say.

Yes, that's what I posted: "The only special thing (very hard to replace) about the OP's coin is its color.
I probably should have posted nearly impossible to be more clear.

don't worry, the coin has a book value of around 800, it will stay in witten's collection. I paid less then 4 k for my ms-64 1907 $10 indian gold no motto, but you never know, like P.T. Barnum used to say, "there's a sucker born every minute"
Ya, the price I paid for this one had nothing to do with the grade. How many other $10 Indians have you seen that look like this? Probably very few, if any. Here's a video of it in hand:
Just a question, are you a collector or a dealer? Initially I thought you bought this for your collection but then you put it for sale almost immediately which was confusing. Obviously I have no idea what you paid in relation to what you are trying to sell for. Nothing wrong with a quick flip if it made you $$$. Just curious.
Edit: posted not realizing page 2 of comments. Reading just answered my own question.

My point was a financial point of view. I would be very happy with this coin for $4,000 and could buy many more nice looking coins with the $176,000 that I saved by not buying the most perfect technical example, and may not be available for years.......And would end up being my box of one.

I am a little of both. I buy what I like. Most of my coins are for sale, but a few are not publicly for sale. My main focus right now is toned gold, specifically my toned $2 1/2 Indian set. Almost none of those are for sale right now, because I don't want someone to buy one of my best coins even at a crazy price. Most of the rest of my coins I will put on ebay just to gauge interest, and I usually price the nicer pieces at a price that I would be ok selling at. I listed this one a lot higher than I paid just since it was so new in my collection, and I really didn't want to sell that bad. Someone on here saw it, and I agree it fits in their collection better than mine, so we have made a deal for him to take it if he likes it in person. I will be making a whooping $75 on the deal. It might be one I regret selling, but it was a lot of money to have tied up, at least for a collector/dealer like me. It ended up selling for a little over half of what I listed it on ebay.

I honestly was thinking about getting it trueviewed, even though the original pictures are not bad.
I would love, LOVE to image this stunner. Just a magnificent piece all the way around. Yes, STUNNER!!!
Very nice! Has a kind of smoky look to it.

Takes one to know one right? Just saying usually if your calling one you probably done it from experience.

Have you submitted it to CAC? That’s an incredible toner!

Yes, the coin successfully CACed, and was sold to another forum member. Wish I still had it, it is a gorgeous coin.
Beautiful! Love the toning!
