Victorian Large Cents of Canada, with Varieties Set

I recently succeeded in getting the remaining coins I needed into the correct PCGS holders and completed this set. I started this set in the 1980's and then really got serious about it when I returned to the hobby in about 2005. The 1859 DPN9 #2 and the 1884 are 1980's purchases.

It is a strange set in that the finest known for some of the coins is VF-35, yet for others it is 66+. Makes for a set with very uneven grades. Having said that, it is an extremely hard set to complete, as some of the coins; like the 1859 Brass, the 1859 9 over inverted 9, and the 1881 single serif N, only have a few examples known.

In any case, it feels quite nice to get it done. Now on to looking for upgrades. :)

Rob, congrats on completing the set and hitting that #1 registry spot! Awesome set - that red 1887 is a stunner!

Rob is a friend, as we go back a number of years .. finally reaching the #1 spot couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I've been lucky enough to see some of these in-hand. Bravo Zulu.

A very impressive group of coins.

One question: Was the 1901 issue struck before or after her death?

    All glory is fleeting.

She died in January, so I am pretty sure it was after.
