50th Anniversary of Bob Gibson's record ERA season

Spring training has begun for the 2018 season, which means it is now the 50th anniversary of Bob Gibson's record breaking season where he set the modern ERA record at 1.12. In his 34 starts that season he completed 28 games, won 22, and pitched 13 shutouts. In one stretch from June 2 to July 30 he pitched 99 innings and only gave up 2 runs! He struck out 268 batters during the season and In the World Series that year he set a record in Game 1 when he struck out 17 Tigers. Since Gibby was my favorite player, I decided to create a digital album for my Gibson Topps Master set. Thanks for letting me share. Impressive collection. Thanks for sharing. Gibson was incredible back in the day.
Do you think anyone ever flipped their bat after hitting a home run off of Gibson?
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
Probably not twice.

LOL! The first time was the last.
Do you have a favorite Gibson card? Mine is his 66 Topps, I was lucky to get it in a 8.5, your 1 of 1 PSA 10 is sharp !
Those are gorgeous cards. Imagine what kind of contract Gibson would command today. I remember his string of scoreless innings ended when he threw a wild pitch - who knows how many more scoreless innings he would have pitched. Amazing pitcher and great collection!

Wow - really nice album Kevin - I enjoyed viewing.
I remember that season - since the Cards should've won the WS that year; was quite a comeback by Detroit.
I was stationed in St Louis in 1985-9 and met Gibson at a dealership downtown.
For those who might not remember.
That was the last year the mound was higher - starting in 1969 they dropped the mound by a whopping 5 inches (I believe) which was quite a bit.
Kudos on establishing such a fine set. Love your Gem '67 - well done!
