Is 2001-2005 Topps Chrome Football Hobby Boxes the new "Gold Standard" for modern football?

I am shocked how much these boxes are selling for. Just a 2-3 years ago I could buy 2001 and 2004 Topps Chrome in the low $100's. 2002-2003 under $100. 2005 less than $150. Now I see they sell for double or even triple.
I never considered Topps Chrome Football to be scarce. Is the draw of the refractors still that strong?
