Does this modern Russian coin look fishy?
Hi all,
I only have a few pieces left to acquire for my Nuclear Numismatics set. One that has my attention is a 100 rouble piece from 1996 that’s part of a set commemorating the 300th anniversary of the Russian Navy. This particular piece is of one of Russia’s famous nuclear icebreakers.
I’ve seen the coin in a competitor’s holder in mintstate. I’ve also seen a couple of mintstate offerings on eBay here:

So then, what’s this?

Something seems odd to me. Do proofs of this set exist? I’m having trouble pinning that down. What’s up with the wobbly rim? Is this a fake? What am I looking at here?
Thanks!

It looks proof to me (or proof-like), If you go down all the way on the Ebay auction page, they show the complete UNC set for sale ..those coins match the surface luster of the first photo that you posted.
Too bad we cannot magnify the first image - in that one the portholes look smaller that the second link.
Trust your instincts
Could that be damage on the rim? Hard to tell whats going on.
Successful BST deals with mustangt and jesbroken. Now EVERYTHING is for sale.
