Is anyone old enough to remember Billy Hall in SF?

DANG, he had nice stuff. He was on Union St. in SF.
Shared a space with Joe Escove who did lots of bullion.
I remember playing ping pong with em on a....DESK. 
Bill's brother Joe had a shop just S. of Market St in what was a....er...um..."colorful" neighborhood.
Had to dodge winos to get in the shop.
And how about .....flannel LINED white coin envelopes?
Those were cool things. Dunno what they did to coins as mine were in them such a short time before slabs came along but they sure were gentle on the metal.

Those flannel envelopes are great for copper, I still have quite a few with raw large cents in them
flannel envelopes - are you talking about the
(usually) white soft pouches that you placed
a coin into, and then into the 2x2 paper envelopes?
....if so, we had a non-PC nickname for them back then......
