BETTER PIXS ADDED.....1954 Stahl-Meyer Mantle card with Blank-Back............BETTER PIXS ADDED

Does anyone know anything about these? I have been told that it is much more scarce than the original, as it is a "proof".

My research on the internet and on e-bay, has yielded no results, so I am inclined to think it is extremely scarce.

My research did bring me to this site, where I found some discussions regarding the 1953-1955 regular issue versions of the card, but unless I am mistaken, I didn't find anything regarding the "proof".

I am trying to get an idea of what it might bring at one of the nice auction houses. Hate to sell it, but.... sometimes you have to let go,,,

I know these are condition sensitive, this one just has a very minor stain (you have to look pretty hard to see it), and the card itself is very nice condition considering the age and delivery systems used to distribute the card.

Thanks in advance for any responses to this. I really appreciate the info.

I have many other rare cards as well, and as my curiosity gets aroused, I will find myself once again probing for more info :P

Post a picture if you can. I would also post this over on this forum net54baseball.com

My phone is not cooperating, so I will take the card to my office in the morning and use the scanner there to post the pictures, front/back and a blow-up of the stain portion. So, hopefully I will have those for you tomorrow evening.

Thanks JBrules, I will post there also.

    Enjoy your evening!

Here is the photos.......sorry they are black and white, as I cannot get my phone to send the pictures, so I had to use the scanner at the office.......not the best.

There is a yellow border surrounding the card, and the block portion with Mantles name is also in yellow. The background is purple, and the hat is blue. The stain goes from just below the top portion of his ear, almost to the top border, and is almost a circular pattern.

The second page is blank to show the blank-back, but not anything to see there, no staining, just a nice perfect white.

Respectfully, I am a bit in shock you resorted to a black and white xerox of the card. You have determination, I will give you that. Doubtful anyone can give any true opinion just from that picture though.

If you want to get the card on here for sure, you can always ask a friend or family member for some help. If you click this icon, you can add it from your phone instead of sending even.

How can the front look the way it does and the back look as if it was - created last month?
