    Hiya Boyd

    Welcome to our forum buddy.

That looks like a generic bat - not the type that he might use in a game whether used or not.

    I'm a fan.

I would guess that it would go for around 50 bucks with the JSA.

The last JSA went for 52.95.

  • Wow. I have to say I'm quite surprised. I see many of the same type online for hundreds. I guess I'm just new at all this. I have many new national treasures autos as well. Is there any specific threads or discuss ions about those?

That does look like a pretty generic bat. If it was a name bat with his name engraved it would increase the value or a game model even would increase the value.

Not to mention that Smoltz was known for throwing a ball not hitting one.....

You need to look at what the items sold for. Many people are quite insane with asking prices when they are offering something for sale.

  • I understand. It IS a pretty generic bat. I got it from a random hit parade tube. Great hit for me personally. I grew up watching smoltz and chipper and maddux and glavine. Love the braves. Always will. John smoltz is easily my favorite player. I would never sell so the value means nothing to me. It's gold to me. Couldn't ask for a better hit. It's the entire reason I even do this stuff!!

    This!

Collecting is a hobby - and if it's "gold to you?"

    It's gold to me.

I have loads of stuff I really like that would be right up there with "Pet Rocks" and "snow globes."

I think the bat is currently residing in the correct collection... yours !
Nice looking sig too. Back in the old Atlanta Fulton County stadium, the Braves used to have 2-3 players sit at a table at random spots in the breezeway on Sunday afternoon games. I got to meet Smoltz with my mother before a Sunday game and we still have the 2 cards he signed. If I put them on Ebay, they'd sell for about $15, but they're priceless to me.
