Sorry but the Vikings deserved to lose that game. I mean on their 2nd to last Drive, why the heck did they throw the ball 3 times when they needed only about 5 yards to get into comfortable FG range AND needing to melt the clock down so NO had minimal time left???? Stupid Stupid coaching, I mean leaving Brees with 1:37? to go to drive 40 yards for a GW FG?? Minny LUCKED out. Congrats to them and their fans but they snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat.

Surprised to hear that comment from a Patriots fan considering the tuck rule, Seahawks pass to give it up, and the Falcons blowing the lead. That is why they play the game.

as I live and breath I have heard it all now, and I don't mean the game. I mean, a Patriot booster saying another Team that pulled out an improbable victory didn't deserve to win and got lucky is just laughable.

I’m not talking about a stupid circus catch, I’m talking about stupid game management. I will be the first person to admit the Pats shouldn’t have won the Seahawks SB, but I can promise you the Pats don’t make stupid mistakes like that. Keets I know your forever butthurt about your pathetic Browns so I get it, and WCK probably got offended by something I said in my post so I get that too but if either one of you jealous Patriot haters can’t understand what I’m talking about as far as that clock management then both of you have no business replying

Perkdog i get what you're trying to say but you could honestly say the same for the Saints leaving too much time as well. In the final 3minutes in that game there was FOUR lead changes which was just insane when you think about it. Both teams made two huge comebacks in those final minutes. Just the final 1:29 of the game had the score change 3 times

  • DIMEMANDIMEMAN Posts: 22,403 ✭✭✭✭✭

I loved the outcome of all the games so far. I think I see another SB win for Brady and Company.

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,656 ✭✭✭✭✭

So Minnesota had the ball, say 1:35-1:50 to go? They are on the 40, need 5 yards to go to the 35 for a “Safer” FG distance? NO has 1 Time out left and up by less than a FG. They throw the ball 3 times??? Why on earth would you not run it up the middle 3 times and drain at minimum 1 minute plus off the clock?? That’s all I’m saying, they threw 3 incomplete passes and left Brees with more than enough time plus their only time out to get in game winning FG position. I honestly was dumbfounded by it and that’s all, I didn’t plan on turning it into a slugfest with 2 jealous nonsensical Patriot haters

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 9,012 ✭✭✭✭✭

No matter who won this game the loser was gonna have plenty of second guessing after and who knows,if Pats & Vikes make it to the SB,we'll be looking forward to the horrible clock management coming from the other sideline.

I was wondering about that too. Told my son the Vikes would be running the ball in that situation. Both teams had QBs sacked that killed scoring drives.

Speaking of that Zimmer said in his post game press conference that he told offensive coordinator not to give up a sack that put them out of FG range. Interesting.

Also thought N.O. coach made two bad challenges especially the second one, but those didn't seem to hurt him.

Nice to see Minnesota FINALLY win a game with a big play at the end instead of making a bad play to lose.

    On to Philadelphia!

Eagles have pretty good defense don't they? I know their QB is out but their backup is functional.

All four teams left have defenses that were in the top 5 for points allowed.

Running the ball to milk the clock down one to just try a 50 yard plus field goal is not a sound strategy either....one good pass and another first down does the job too.

I think the Steelers decision to go for an onside kick with 2:10 left and two timeouts was
dumber than anything in the Vikings- Saints game.

Wait a minute- the Saints defensive back who closed his eyes and whiffed at tackling the Viking
receiver and instead took out his own man, that was the dumbest thing I saw today.

Those two things were the dumbest in todays' football games.
Clock management comes in a distant third.

    Eagles vs. Vikings.

Two franchises that can't win the big one. One of them will most likely have the pleasure of getting beat by the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

  • BrickBrick Posts: 4,981 ✭✭✭✭✭

There were quite a few questionable decisions that contributed to losing efforts. That is one thing that sets the Pats apart from teams that seemingly have equal or near equal talent. They play well and make good decisions under pressure. The Super Bowl against Seattle and Atlanta highlighted that fact. This will probably continue until Brady and Belichek call it a day.

Bettors had a lot of excitement in the 9 minutes after the winning Viking touchdown. Spread was NO +5.5, so no extra point meant that New Orleans and the points was the winning bet.

  • pocketpiececommemspocketpiececommems Posts: 5,868 ✭✭✭✭✭

And for what reason do they have to have the extra point when a game is won and it makes no difference in determining the winner. What if a team ran it in for 2 when everyone is expecting a kneel down. You would never hear the end of that one from the gambling world.

I didn't count them out, until I saw the Jags record against Tom Brady. Looks like the Pats

I want the Pat's to win in a bad way. However, any of these other 3 teams winning wouldn't be the end of the world and I wouldn't cry too much. I actually like the Jags, Vikings and Eagles and it work be a feel good story.

I was at the Vikings game last weekend & it was an amazing experience. A true roller-coaster... The play calling on that drive was lost on me -- being at the game is different than at home (easier to 2nd guess at home). What wasn't lost, was how they blew that game after dominating for the first half.

I'm much less concerned about the Eagles than the Saints. We shall see - SKOL!

Eagles will be tough at home with a great defense. Vikings will win with a late field goal.

I think Philly plays with a chip on their shoulder like last week being the home underdog. The Eagles were the best team in the NFC this year and I think they get it done today at home 20-17. I'll probably be rooting for Minnesota though

They were better with their starting QB, not so sure with the backup.

Defense looks formidable though, as does the Vikings'.

I think you may have to promote them to Mighty Eagles after tonight. Or insist on calling them the eaglets but that makes the cowboys the cowgirls by default

That emotional and dramatic win vs NO last week took a lot of Keenum and Co. The wheels have come off.

Indoor teams now 0-13 on the road vs outdoor teams in NFC championships.

The Vikings have a very good team. They will have to go out and get a franchise QB in order to take the next step. Bridgewater/Bradford and/or Keenum ain't that answer.

I hate to see the Vikings go out this way.

Vikings defense was horrible, could not stop the Eagles at all. Did not see that coming. I noticed in the last few games the Vikes weren't getting to the quarterback and it was true again today.

Hopefully Delvin Cook comes back next year and is as good as he looked before his injury, that will lessen the need for a "franchise" QB. Not many of those out there.

Keenum is the guy & I totally agree that when Dalvin Cook comes back it will free up the offense to another level. They also need to dump half of their receivers that are not productive, led by Michael Floyd and Laquon Treadwell. I see Larry Fitzgerald coming home to go for a ring or two. Everson Griffen was hurt and couldn't walk well for quite some time...

Didn't know Everson was hurt till the other day. Foot problem?

Generally I really like Zimmer but with the defense not able to stop Philly, I would have at least tried to do more blitzing.
