Hey guy, could use some help with this one.

Another ancient.. presumably Roman it’s larger than I’m used to, about the size of a quarter, the back is pretty indistinguishable but I can make out a face on the front he seems to have head ware and a pointy nose, any help is appreciated thanks - Jake ![]

Right facing, sharp nose, legend around edges
Not enough detail and no reverse. If reverse has man seated on high back chair (throne) with staff at left behind in right hand could be Ancient Rome Tiberius Caesar Denarius 14 AD to 37 Ad. But I am not an expert, and there just isn't a clear enough pic.

It doesn't appear to be silver so it is not a denarius. The portrait has a Roman look but I'm not prepared to make a guess beyond that.

    All glory is fleeting.

That hooky nose should give it away, but I don't know. I played with the photo:

I want to say Trajan or Hadrian, but would NOT bet anything on my guess.

Die engravers often modified the Emperor's nose to something more idealistic.

  • thanks for the info guys!
