Picked this little guy up for a lousy $24. Crazy color .... images don't do it justice.

Who says you can't find deals on eBay?


Whoops....did I fail to mention I got it in Apr of 2000?

    Great find. Even if it's been in your possession a while.

    I guess there was a time when crazy color didn't demand a huge premium. Today that gets a star and sells for $300.

    Many years ago I spent an evening on Ebay trying to find a coin ... any coin ... that might be cherry-pickable by virtue of poor picture quality. Just for sport. I came across a Merc ... 43, or maybe 43-S ... NGC-67 .... with a picture so fuzzy I could barely distinguish obverse from reverse. Got it for 11 dollars, I think. Not a huge score, but it was worth more than 11 dollars because it turned out to be a beauty. (But not as beautiful as the one to the left which I also obtained on Ebay for about 50 dollars about 10 years ago.)

    You are indeed lucky for finding a beautifully toned mercury dime like this none just for $24! I sometimes feel that instead of searching on authentic websites of caution houses you can pick some of the best items if you really have an eye for coins. The only drawback with eBay is that sometimes prices and bids are far higher than the actual market value of the item. It is always better to check with an expert before spending a lot of money on coins auctioned on eBay! Affordable purchases like this one are totally worth it!

    No change in the color the last 18 years, at least that I can tell. Oddly, the eBay auction did not have any pics at all. The description said something like ‘Rainbow toning’. That was about it. I just rolled the dice, as I was putting together a set of colorful Mercs at the time. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it!
