Thought I'd share this very recent pickup. I collect old photos and I also collect old Mantles so I guess it was only a matter of time before I started collecting old Mantle photos. The Photo is a personal snapshot from 1952 Spring training in St. Petersburg, before his first full season.

Wow. Love to see any image of Mickey Mantle at that time— just pure, massive, awesome potential.

Is that his dad with him?

looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
It's not his dad with him, but I'm still trying to identify the man who is in each of the photos. It may just be a fan taking snapshots. Only one is with Mickey, the other 2 photos are with Joe Collins and Bill Miller.
Just received these in the mail today so wanted to post a few more pics and also ask if anyone might recognize the person with Mickey. Could just be a fan but suppose it could also be someone in the Yankee organization. By the way, of course I checked and I can read the Rawlings label with my loupe.
Love the rolled up sleeves the Mick has
1950’s my favorite American era
Thanks for sharing
No clue, but is it the scout that signed Mick? Tom Greenwade?
My guess it's just a fan who was the original owner of the snapshot...
Is it dated 1952 anywhere on the photo?
Cool item

I have read somewhere that back in the day during spring training some players would stay at the house of someone in the area. With Mickey being a young player and having little money to spring for a rental house of motel maybe this could be the case.
Could this be the house and the house owner he was staying with that spring? I dunno- just throwing it out there.
Back then, all of the younger players would have been staying at a team hotel...Perhaps the veterans would have rented their own homes.

Here are the backs of the three photos along with close ups of the other 2. I looked up Tom Greenwade and it doesn't look like that's him. Probably just a fan...But I do wonder what structure they are standing by if it's at the field. I also find that he looks pretty chummy with Bill Miller so he may have a connection there.
