How does PSA grade review work?

Since Recently joining the forum I’ve seen several conversations about grade bumps, which I wasn’t aware about prior. What’s the process? Thanks!

I'm curious in this as well; and is it the same process for crossovers. I have a bunch of original {mike baker days} gai stuff.

I have to much S**t; so if you working on sets or are a player/team collector, send me your want list, with conditions desired. Keep in mind I have a another job so please allow me a few days to respond.

You can go through the process in online submission the same as a normal order just choose "Review" and "Crossover" respectively.

@PmanFL If it is a PSA review, you just send it in like a normal order online and you enter the certs asking for a review. If PSA deems they deserve a higher grade, they will crack it and reseal with the higher flip. If they determine it doesn't they simply send it back. Occasionally you do get a note from the grader why it didn't bump, but I find they are not consistent with doing this for every review order.

If it is a crossover @tonylags , then you would send in the same way noting crossover during submission, enter the GAI or whichever certs and send in as normal. If you specify a minimum grade during that time for each card, they will not crack it unless it meets at least that.

And make sure you put a minimum grade, if not you risk them being cracked and returned unholdered!

    THIS.

I also tape a note on the team bags that contain my cards saying "MIN GRADED X. DO NOT CRACK UNLESS THIS MEETS MIN GRADE X" as aback up measure.

Do they ever get returned to you with the notes still attached?

    Same ~ Sub topic

What % of your items have actually crossed & or got bumped?

No. If they do not cross, they generally come back in a new bag and no note.

% crossed lifetime is about 25% other brand to psa and leas for psa to psa for bump.

Also, bgs always gives feedback on card flaws that fail to cross. My psa/sgc to bgs cross rate is better than 50%

Are you crossing at equal or 9s for 9.5's (upgrades)?

I tried crossing 22 cards once to 9.5 from psa 9. All were charged and denied. I reviewed them myself and sent 12 of the 22 in to PSA and got 2 bumps to 10 so I made out. I thought I would never send anymore cross for higher to BGS again, but maybe I just had a bad experience.

I'm guessing they get removed before they get to the graders. Probably not necessary.
