Cheap Lincoln sets from circulation . . .

OverdateOverdate Posts: 7,320 ✭✭✭✭✭

. . . for the ultra-frugal collector.

Major type set (wheat, memorial, shield), 3 cents
2009 anniversary type set, 4 cents
Shield reverse PD set, 18 cents
21st century date set, 19 cents

Best of all, ultra-frugal collectors can easily accumulate duplicates to trade with their equally ultra-frugal friends and family.

I like to buy the entire 1941 - on sets that go for cheap. Already assembled and you don't know what you may find. Plus, you learn what colors Red, Red-Brown, and Brown cents look like. Then I spend the ones I don't wish to keep.

I hear what you are saying but, how much intrest will this keep one in collecting.
With the amount of money being spent on electronic devices, I wounder what if they spent just 10% of that on a collection?

I think most types of collecting will suffer in the future. Not enough young folks interested in much of anything that does not come over an electronic network. Collecting is not sustainable w/o collectors. I for one will be dead and the only loss will be monetary as the prices in most of the things I collect continue to soften. No matter, nothing can replace the enjoyment of collecting, pursuing knowledge, the hunt, and the acquisition! My heirs will need to deal with the dispersal. LOL.
