Mint Monkey Business - We all are aware of the clandestine operations and tomfoolery that went on at the Mints throughout the years. Not only by Mint Officials.........but also by employees.

Let's see how many we can list. I'll start by listing one of the most obvious:

    The 1913 Liberty Nickels

    Pete

After reading the ongoing "THE OMEGA MAN" thread...
I will take the liberty to add it to this list, of U.S. Mint
    monkey business !!!

The Mint was not involved in that one, but it sure is "monkey business."

Improper cancellation of the die set, knowingly / purposely...?

And making sure they got to the dump unnoticed
    by their lazy superiors ?

So they could be cherry-picked from the dump, by others.

If we didn't have mint monkey business, think how less interesting our hobby would be! Great thread!

I've enjoyed owning a few Monkey Business error coins I've collected over the years.
I think of them as examples of thought provoking mint employee shenanigans that give me an additional insight into the minting process.
