Absolutely! I worked for mid-west life insurance company at the time. For some reason, HR gave every employee (approx. 800 employees) one card from this set. I have no clue as to how or why this even happened. Anyway, most of the women were going to pitch them so I got the word out that I would take them. I would have to look for them to see how many I ended up with,

They also produced a micro set in 1991 and 1993. I have both of those, but for some reason opted not to buy the 1992 set. I'd imagine it had something to do with Chipper Jones and Derek Jeter, but both sets were purchased long before they became surefire HOFs.

The sets got bigger each year. I see all 3 on the Registry, but I think the largest % complete on any of them is around 2 %. Can you imagine grading over 800 of them to complete the 93 set.

I think Bob should lead the way

I have all 3 factory sealed stashed away in the closet. A nice novelty, as I first remember seeing the 1991 series inserted into Cracker Jack boxes sold in stores. Not sure if the 1992 and 1993 cards were inserted as well. I don’t think I could ever do a graded set, but maybe pick up the star players already graded if working on a player master set.

Always looking for OPC "tape intact" baseball wax boxes, and 1984 OPC baseball PSA 10's for my set. Please PM or email me if you have any available.

In 91 the Topps baseball cards also came in Cracker Jack boxes. They were a little bit bigger than the micro set and they only released about 10% of the entire checklist (probably 70 cards or so). We bought a lot of Cracker Jack that year trying to get the Griffey Jr and Frank Thomas.

    This ^ Still missing a couple, 91 Base & 93 AS. I'd like to upgrade the 93, but it's currently pop 1, none higher in a 9.

Do they slide around in those holders ?

I don't recall them moving any more than other cards, requiring a tap to the holder to adjust, but I'll have to pull them out and double check. From looking at the scans again, it appears the 93 would be most likely to slide.

Just curious too, I haven’t looked at my boxes in some time but I noticed with the 1992 and 1993 sets, it looks like there were special inserts: Gold and prisms respectively. I’ve never “ripped” these sets as when I attained them, I left them sealed, but I wonder if there were star players in these inserts and if graded high, would they command a premium?

Last time I tried subbing the 91T Cracker Jack, I got N9'd :'( Seems odd that they grade the 92D Cracker Jack, but not the 91T.

    The 12 golds in 1992:
    1 Nolan Ryan Gold
    10 Wade Boggs Gold
    50 Ken Griffey Jr. Gold
    270 Tony Gwynn Gold
    300 Don Mattingly Gold
    380 Barry Bonds Gold
    390 Barry Bonds Gold
    425 Cecil Fielder Gold
    560 Rickey Henderson Gold
    725 Dwight Gooden Gold
    100 Jose Canseco Gold
    460 Andre Dawson Gold

Since there aren't Gold versions of every card and there's no additional scarcity to the Golds, I doubt there's much premium if any. Same with the 93, the 12 Prisms are the same players in every set.

Topps needed smaller hands to collate the sets

It's like they had Oompah Loompah babies sort the sets though. If you open a box of any of these early 90's Topps Minis, you spend more time sorting and looking for the Griff/Ryan/Braves guy than worth it. Zero collation requirements. It's like the sheets were pressed, cut, and dumped in to a Wonka collater for boxing.

Ditto. I don’t know why they grade one over the other.

I remember the 91 CJ. I kept some of the "packs" with the card sealed. Guess you could say it's part of an 'unopened" collection. :)

Imagine how hard it must be to read the stats of Nolan Ryan on the reverse of those cards?

    Enjoy your collection!
