No more viewer call ins for rules infractions! Too late for Lexi and Tiger, but glad to see this one go away.

Good riddance. Players should play on a level playing field.

Yeah...that was insanely stupid.
The two-stroke penalty for unknowingly signing an incorrect scorecard is also gone, though not sure that matters much with the viewer call-ins out of the picture: https://www.golfdigest.com/story/golfs-major-tours-governing-bodies-will-stop-taking-tv-viewer-call-ins-regarding-potential-rules-issues
The ramifications of this ruling will be very difficult to top. Jaxon Brigman was a guy I grew up with and played against in high school. He was hands down the best golfer I had ever seen in my life; I'll never forget him shooting 59 at our home muni course like it was nothing. He won state three times and went on to play at Oklahoma State, where he was an honorable mention All-American and was a part of a team D-I title.
After that, he was quickly faced with the stark realization of just how difficult it is to make the big show. Back in 1999 -- after a number of years of toil on the Nike tour -- he thought he had done just that after firing a 65 on the final day of Q School, the most grueling qualifying competition in all of sports. I'll allow John Feinstein to finish the story. A quick excerpt from his book, Tales from Q School: Inside Golf's Fifth Major:

And to make a sad story even sadder, he never earned his tour card.
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
I could never figure out how they could have such a lame brain rule. You could have someone sitting at home watching every move a player made over and over till they figured out you stepped over a log with your left foot first instead of your right foot and bam. Gotcha

Oh my, that is brutal.
Heartbreaking.
