A 1937 specimen set? It all depends on the quality of the coins.

Are you sure the whole set is matte?

Around $1,000 USD, but again the overall look of each piece will influence the price.

Looking at the Ebay "sold" listings, I don't see one as matte. There are UNC prooflike for $200-300 sold, but nothing matte. There's one offered for $1800 that he'll never get half that. Sorry I can't be more help, but I don't deal much with "bright and shiny".

There seems to be always a set or two for sale. Aside from those currently listed on ebay, one seller has three completed "sales" for the same no-return set of raw coins in an original box and the "sales" prices are listed as $950, $800 and $800.

To my knowledge, most 1937 Canadian Specimen Sets came with a matte finish. A minority were produced with a mirror finish.

I agree. I don't recall the breakdown off-hand, but believe it was something like 1,000 sets in matte and another 75-sets in mirror.
