Risks/rewards of shorting leveraged volatility futures etfs

I have made over $1,200 this year shorting tvix. But I am very conservative with my short positions and I never put too much equity into something that can blow up in my face and go the other way. Had I been more aggressive I could have made more money. Anybody else been shorting vxx/vixy/uvxy/tvix? Discuss.

I use DUST and NUGT 3X ETFs to profit on ups and downs with the gold miners index. ETFs must be monitored closely, especially the leveraged ones, to react promptly to market changes. ETFs are a good way to invest in indexes or "baskets." Inverse ETFs are a good way to short these indexes and baskets.
