What do I do if i find a 1982 copper small date penny?

I took it to a rare coin shop in Bellevue WA. And the guy had no idea what I was talking about. He had me leave it with him so he could have someone else look at it. Any suggestions?

Post a photo here or go on the internet and enlarge the images you find there. Search this site for information as I remember a recent discussion on these coins.
