It's time to see what the crack is all about...

I have always done crossovers. Admittedly, I have cracked PSA cases and resubmitted a card right back to them plenty of times, because I knew they would accept it, but I haven't been cracking cards out of different companies holders to then send in blindly to the other company (PSA, etc). I am always nervous about a potential false minsizerq, evid trim or something else resulting in a holder-less card so I have always elected for a crossover at near the grade it currently is residing (most of the time accepting of a lessor grade).

I have successfully crossed over cards in the past this way with BGS and PSA both as the accepting company, but I believe bias has potential to exist. I think some cards deserve a brand new set of eyes to look it over without being influenced by a previous grade. I welcome any thoughts to this, but I believe the mantra here is to crack anyway, so I don't think there will be much reserve.

It's time to see what the crack is all about. I will track the progress here so wish me luck!

Dude, or El Duderino (if you're not into the whole brevity thing), you post nice cards, you need to get a nice scanner. Good luck with the cross!

I think it will cross ok. Other than being lenient with centering SGC is a first class grading company.

I believe cracking will give me a better chance here for grades above PSA 7.

100% agree I need to find a scanner that is much better for cards unless someone has ideal settings for the hp envy4520?

Epsons crush it for the dual depths of a slab. I've had two different Perfections and they were both a dream.

Beautiful card and best of luck! The one SGC card I cracked and sent to PSA was 4 equivalent 1953 Topps Satchel Paige. I was really hoping for a PSA 4 and that's what I got.

Beautiful card, good luck on the sub. Just curious how it measures up outside the holder, look like there is some room in the SGC holder. I've gotten some minsizerq from cracking SGC's, but hopefully that's not the case with yours.

I haven't cracked it just yet. Inside the holder it measures great top to bottom, left to slight taper of 1/32nd or less. The right edge has a rough cut so pretty sure that is the factory width but who knows. I think it fits well within the guideline, but we shall see if they eye it the same since they don't go to the tape.

Good luck with the crack and submit. Great looking card. I would be real surprised if it didn't get at least a PSA 7. Looking forward to seeing the results. I have had success cracking SGC cards on several occasions with just one bomb.

Which Epson is the best to get. The newer 600 or crazy 800 models or is the 300 still the best way to go bang for buck?

I would imagine you'd be fine with any stand-alone flatbed Perfection. But if it helps I'm using the 4490 Photo. Here's a few sample scans.

Good luck with your crack and sub, I think it is a terrific looking card.

I've had my Epson Perfection V200 Photo scanner for about 10 years and I scanned the card below a couple of days ago and for it's age I think it still does a great job.

I think it gets an 8. Nice card.
