Question about 1979 SBA Dollar varieties...

MrEurekaMrEureka Posts: 23,947 ✭✭✭✭✭

I know about the wide and narrow obverse rim varieties. A couple of questions, though.

Do the reverse dies also come both ways?

If they do, are there any rare obverse/reverse die combinations?

I was under the impression that the terms "wide rim" and "narrow rim" were misnomers, the placement of the date was actually what differed in the two, therefore the multi-angled rim was the same width on both types.

If that's the case, the reverse shouldn't have any differences unless the placement of design elements changed there too.

This was sort of my understanding as well. I understand that the rims can appear to be various thicknesses/widths, but the distance of the date to the inside of the rim is the real differentiator as I recall.
