For sale is an interesting piece I bought "accidentally." I actually meant to place a bid on the lot before this one. I dont know much about shellcards, so I'll take what I paid. Piece is probably struck in 1876 for the centennial.
Description below is from the auction:
New York. New York City. W.T. & J. Mersereau, Stair Rods, Dog Collars, Pat. Dog Muzzles...Shell card, 1776. Embossed bright gilt shells, 35mm. $20 Gold Liberty Head design obv.; Rx: 7-line inscription. Lustrous Unc, blunt indentation from 7 to 9 o’clock obv with wrinkle to corresponding rev area.

Hey, at least you accidentally bid on something neat. Good luck with it! :)

Dog Collars/Muzzles & Coffee Roasters interesting manufacturing diversification :p

Not a commonly seen shell card and seem like a smoking deal since at shows you can't touch one near this price.
