You would also do well to join EAC, Early American Coppers as there is a lot of crossover information.
You will enjoy the journal full of information and the people you will eventually meet at the shows. It will change your collecting life for the better.
I can not imagine my Numismatic journey without my club memberships.
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
I am a member of C4 and EAC. I plan on attending Baltimore, thought I don't know if I'll make the C$ meeting. Still, it would be a pleasure to meet you, Yorkshireman.

I too am a C-4, ANS, EAC member, but mostly collect Colonial coins and literature as well as some Colonial paper money and Washingtonia.
I concur, the newsletters and the comradery are worth the dues of each of the three organizations.
That is quite an undertaking you are getting into. What is your reference set. Are you doing it by Almanacs, or Red Book or all the above?
