UPDATE:
Bob Grellman has examined the coin and has found it to be a UNC with light cleaning with an amazing EAC net grade of AU55!

I don't need to explain the coin to anybody. It is pretty self-explanatory. I am going to give it a try on here. I strongly believe it had a prior cleaning. Nothing super egregious but somebody cleaned it and obviously had no idea it was a rare die variety. They just saw a very nice 1838 1c and wanted to make it even better.

Now that got that out of the way this coin is a solid AU coin. A real beauty!

The die diagnostics (obverse flowlines and reverse broken letters) are very visible on this example.

I have received an offer from west coast collector through a dealer (I doubt it maybe either of those people are on this forum. Never know!) and I have no formally accepted and wants to close in few weeks. I am putting it up here and if you have interest we can talk.

Since this is a rare and raw copper coin if a standing member wants to see the coin prior to payment I am 100% ok with that. I can't make it a show-and-tell thing so we have to be at very least close to agreement in terms of value but I would not be surprised if somebody wanted to examine it first and happy to accommodate.

If you PM me and don't hear back in like 6-8 hours message again as I probably just missed it.
