I used to collect a lot more coins than I do now I love the history behind coins. I like a shiny new coin but I actually prefer a coin or token that was actually used in commerce. Could you imagine if a well worn coin or token could speak, the story it would tell?? The reason CLCT does well on the coin side is that there are just too many REALLY good fake coins, even in fake slabs. One must be very careful when buying a rare coin, even more so than buying a heavily copied rare card. I am not an expert enough to detect a really good Chinese fake.

I've always liked coins, cards, and currency. As well as other stuff, besides. :)

So from a pure card guy, I have a question: Are "modern" coins graded like modern cards? Or is there truly only a finite number of coins that can be graded?

New all time high for CLCT.

    RTQ $29.22

Edit: It looks like it still has a little more to go to break the 2000 high on a non dividend adjusted basis. $33.18 is the actual highest print.

They're pretty apples to apples with modern cards in a lot of ways, I'd say. Imagine a stack of essentially pristine cards all new, of a given player. You as the grader need to arrange them in 8.5, 9's and 10s, if any. Same deal with coins, say modern silver eagles, all essentially perfect, you must count the ticks or micro marks and determine PCGS Ms68, 69 and 70 (70 representing a "perfect" coin.)
