A nice example.
I have two cup-shaped bronzes, maybe 900 years old, and I don't think I'll be taking it any further!
The best, obv. (sorry for the bad photo):
AE, c. 24 mm, 4.9 grams
The second best, obv. (these were both difficult to photograph):
AE, c. 24 mm x 22 mm, 3.0 grams
If you follow bronzemat's link, you can see a very fine sampler!

For my education, are my cup-shaped coins bronze or billon? They look bronze to me.
I do have a first edition of Sear's Byzantine Coins their values (1974) and I think I have the full set if Wayne G. sayles' ancient books, but they are packed away somewhere.
As @harasha mentioned, check @bronzemat's Byzantine gallery. Your coin appears to be a billion trachy type. He has some examples.

I did look at bronzemat's Byzantine gallery and it was very interesting.
Most of those emperors are little known today, but once-upon-a-time they were the foremost Kings in the world. Lots of downside(s) on the back-end of the job, however.
Here is my only coin of Maurice Tiberius:
Nice clear legends on that one, Nap! By the way, you missed a bunch of cool Renaissance medals last Wednesday. But we missed you more!
