PSA grading policies?
Feel free to ask any other policy questions here that you aren't sure of.
I didn't want to hi-jack an ongoing thread about a certain card so will just ask the question here.....
If you resubmit a card with an "old flip or certification number-7" and say for whatever reason it wouldn't get that grade today-deserves a 4. What grade do you get?
Ex. The old grade is a "7". And either because of more stringent grading today or some natural cause (fading, a wrinkle developed, or it was irreversibly damaged somehow) it deserves a "4" today. Does PSA just reholder it with the new case and gives it a "7", or down-grades it with the new deserving number "4"? Is this a policy even if you don't ask them to? ....Some are asking what happens because there is a "4"ish card inside a NEW case with a "7". I'm confused. Thanks.

If it is a reholder it is strictly reholdered. I do not think an old card misgraded would be downgraded ever because you are simply not taking that risk with a reholder. You are taking the risk of it being verified as authentic shall the holder be tampered with, however in the event PSA graded a fake card or you have a fake holder.
*In the event of a special circumstance, I think PSA would have to pay the submitter the card difference of smr which for some vintage could be way below real current value.
Generally speaking, a card is not downgraded is it is reholdered. As stash said, in cases of an egregious overgrade, PSA will reholder at the lower grade and negotiate compensation for the submitter.
