Which Eras to collect from for appreciation?
I see everyone talking about the overinflated 90's and not really any cards are going to appreciate in value.
I am getting the itch to collect and got some questions
-Which eras are collectable? (newer eras)
-Certain brands that are more collectable than others? (topps over fleer? Fleer over Bowmen? etc)
-Why are cards from the 2000's and the 2010's more likely to appreciate than the ones in the 90's? (aren't these companies producing millions of the same rookie cards?)
I see people talking a ton about judge and his rookie year all his rookie stuff... is this just Ken Griffey Jr. all over again? where everybody and their mom got his rookie card from all the brands and socked them away as an investment.... and never really saw that money appreciate like they thought.

This is always a fun discussion.
I don't think in that terms so I wouldn't be good to give advice.
Of interest?
Back in the 80s, there were - actually - "investment" guys who were touting that sports cards/collectibles will out perform the market.
Not sure where they stand on that now.
The key reason I steer clear of viewing my stuff as an investment?
It would suck the fun out of it and could feel like work. And I'm retired.
yes true. I would collect to not make money and sell the sets but I also don't want to spend $100's of dollars to open packs that will be worthless.
I guess I would like to have the ability to sell my cards if I HAD to.
