Clarification with regards to X-outs and FASC.

So it's possible I dreamed this, or, given most days I can't remember where I parked when I leave work, it's possible I'm losing my mind altogether, but I seem to remember that in the recent group rip, there were cases being opened to sell individual boxes, but the boxes could not be labelled FASC because the boxes were X-outs. Can someone please clarify this for me?
Thanks!

That would be a change in policy on Steve's part as he has designated X-out boxes in the past as FASC if they were from a case.
If so, I think it is a good change, as X-out boxes were returns by retailers to Topps which were marked with an X on the lid for final sale. While it is possible that X-out boxes may be original, opened cases with intact boxes of packs, it is also possible that these boxes can contain a compilation of packs from different boxes to "fill" a box for return to Topps who would then mark the lid of the box with an X before placing it back in the case for final sale.
